PETALING JAYA: GDEX Berhad proudly held its second Skills Development Program Graduation Ceremony on 21st December 2024, at M Theatre, Mahsa Avenue. The event celebrated the achievements of 66 graduates who have successfully completed the Skills Development Program, marking a significant milestone in GDEX’s ongoing commitment to human capital development and skills enhancement. Of these 66 graduates, 20 received the Malaysian Skills Certificate or Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM), while 46 graduates were conferred the Malaysian Skills Diploma or Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM).
The Skills Development Program, designed by GDEX in collaboration with the Department of Skills Development Malaysia (JPK), aims to enhance technical and professional competencies of GDEX employees. This initiative also aligns with the Malaysian Government’s National TVET Policy 2030, which focuses on advancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key driver of the nation’s economic growth.
Mr Teong Teck Lean, the Managing Director/Group CEO of GDEX Berhad said, “GDEX has always made training and upskilling a priority for our people, as we recognise the importance of personal development and capacity building. In fact, GDEX was one of the first in the courier industry to set up a learning academy. I am honoured to be a part of this celebration and am proud of the initiative and effort of our graduates. I look forward to seeing more GDEX employees upskill and acquire more knowledge in their learning journey ahead.”
This year’s graduating batch marks a remarkable progression for the program, as it has grown from its inaugural cohort of only 10 graduates in 2020 to 66 graduates in its second and latest batch. This increase in the number of graduates shows GDEX’s dedication to providing meaningful upskilling opportunities for their employees.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of graduates, their families, GDEX management and employees, as well as esteemed representatives from various government bodies. The event, which was officiated by Tan Sri Muhammad bin Ibrahim, the Chairman of GDEX Berhad, highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry and government in driving skill-based learning and workforce readiness. As GDEX continues its journey to empower individuals and enhance professional capabilities, the success of this program reflects the organisation’s steadfast commitment to building a future-ready workforce.
