GD Express Carrier Bhd (GDEX) announced today that the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Entreprise Des Postes Lao (EPL) yesterday for a feasibility study on express delivery services in Laos.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, GDEX said the study, among others, would include the operation mode, system and procedures adopted by EPL to enter into a strategic partnership relationship to develop international and domestic express delivery services under shared brands for the Laos market.
EPL, which is Laos’ official provider of postal services, is a state-owned enterprise that operates under the National Authority of Post and Telecommunication.
Subject to the relevant approval being obtained, both parties will set up a joint venture company in Laos to undertake the partnership project.
GDEX said the company will leverage on EPL’s strong home market position and reputation as well as GDEX’s logistical skill and expertise to develop the express delivery industry in Laos. — Bernama
